Cassano calls out ‘sh*ty rules’ for awarding penalty to Chelsea against Milan

AC Milan have left the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea behind them, but the debate has continued among pundits and fans regarding the controversial penalty. Antonio Cassano has now chimed in with his thoughts.

Fikayo Tomori was sent off after just 18 minutes and the referee also gave Chelsea a penalty for the foul. Many have argued that it wasn’t even a foul, seeing as the contact was minimal and that Mason Mount was able to carry on and shot.

Speaking live on BoboTV, as cited by MilanNews, former Milan man Antonio Cassano stated that it shouldn’t have been a penalty at all. He did, however, blame the rules more than the referee for the subsequent red card.

“The penalty is either a serious foul or you don’t give it, but with these shitty rules it was a double punishment because then after the penalty, the red card must be shown too,” he stated.

Milan will face Hellas Verona this evening and they want to bounce back from the defeat, as well as build on their positive trend in the league. Fikayo Tomori will play from start but he will miss the next Champions League clash.
