Cassano plays down the quality of Milan stars Leao, Maignan and Theo Hernandez

Antonio Cassano has played down the quality of three AC Milan players who were stars of the last Scudetto win in Rafael Leao, Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez.

Cassano is by now known for his outspoken nature and always wanting to be the centre of attention with controversial remarks, and he has often been vocally critical of Milan given that he does not have the best of relationships with fans of the Rossoneri.

Speaking on the Bobo TV channel, Cassano spoke about three players who are currently part of the core of Milan, starting with last season’s Serie A MVP Rafael Leao. His comments were relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“Leao would not even remotely be a starter for the top teams in Europe. Ansu Fati and Sancho are on another level, with Portugal he is on the bench for Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Jota,” he said.

“You can’t compare Maignan in the slightest to Courtois and Allison. Theo Hernandez was at Real Madrid with Hakimi, at Madrid they keep the strongest players.”

The performances of the three players mentioned speaks for itself as does their rocketing market value, with even rival fans agreeing they are among the best in the world in their position. A step too far for Cassano, it seems.
