Castillejo eyes revenge vs. Lille as he reveals how Pioli has ‘changed the mentality’ at Milan – video

AC Milan winger Samu Castillejo has vowed to try and get some revenge when the Rossoneri face off against Lille on Thursday night.

Milan make the trip to France having had their unbeaten run snapped by Lille earlier in the month with a 3-0 defeat at San Siro, and Castillejo is highly likely to take back a spot in the starting XI due to the injury sustained by Alexis Saelemaekers in Sunday’s win over Napoli.

The Spaniard was interviewed by Milan TV ahead of the visit to Lille, and his comments were transcribed by MilanNews.

“I’m certainly in a good moment in my career. The past few months have been heavy due to the physical problems I had, but I’m part of a group, a family,” he said.

“From the arrival of Mr. Pioli and Ibra we understood that we need everyone and we have to run for each other. We want to do something good with Milan.”

On Pioli: “The coach is a hard worker, he motivates the players, he is always close to us and he likes to talk. This in my opinion is very good for the players. He changed the mentality of the group: it was difficult but he succeeded. Now we all know what to do to do what we are doing.”

On Brahim Diaz, who he grew up with at Malaga: “I’ve known him since he was 10, he’s a strong player with a winning mentality. He likes to work a lot, he comes from Real Madrid and so I expected this level. When he played he always scored and did well, I’m very happy for him.”

On the match against Lille: “We prepared well, knowing that they are a strong team. They demonstrated it here at San Siro and we all still have the result in mind. We want to win.”

On the objectives: “As the coach says, if we really want to make a good path like we did at the end of last year we have to think match by match, there is no match more important than the next one and this must be everyone’s approach. to face the matches. We want to make a good journey this year.”
