Official: Castillejo leaves Milan for Valencia in permanent deal

Samu Castillejo has officially left AC Milan in a permanent deal and joined La Liga side Valencia who are coached by Gennaro Gattuso.

The move was announced by the Rossoneri in a statement on Tuesday evening and the club thanked the Spaniard for his professionalism and commitment during his time at the club.

“The Club would like to thank Samu for the professionalism and commitment shown during his time here and we wish him all the best in his personal and professional life,” the statement said.

Castillejo joined Milan from Valencia’s rivals, Villareal, back in 2018 as part of a deal that saw Colombian forward Carlos Bacca move in the other direction.

Since the move he has made almost 90 appearances for the Rossoneri and has found the net seven times.

The 27-year-old fell out of favour last season with Stefano Pioli and he only made five Serie A appearances during the Scudetto winning campaign.

That has led to him actively pursuing a move and he has chosen to link up with former Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso as the pair already have a good working relationship.
