Ceccarini: Milan eye free transfer of Atletico Madrid man for post-Kessie era

Franck Kessie’s contract will expire next summer and he’s yet to sign a renewal with AC Milan. Therefore, since he could leave in January or for free after the season, the Rossoneri might have to start looking for a midfielder.

The situation is far from ideal for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara who have been working on the renewal for about a year now. The talks have seemingly hit a stalemate and the directors have started to look around for options on the market.

According to Niccolo Ceccarini, in his latest piece for TMW, Milan are keeping an eye on Atletico Madrid midfielder Hector Herrera. Since joining on a free transfer from Porto, he hasn’t played loads and will leave the club at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri, in other words, could get him for free a few years after being linked with him when he was at Porto. The hypothesis is concrete, per the report, but one should add that the Mexican international will turn 32 in April of next year.
