Milan Primavera suffered yet another defeat on Monday afternoon, leaving their play-off hopes in a delicate position.
The Primavera’s recent good form came to an end on Sunday afternoon as they were beaten 1-0 away from home by Roma. This was then followed by a 2-0 home defeat to Cremonese, meaning Giovanni Renna’s team had dropped back into the bottom half of the standings.
A third defeat on the spin followed today in Cesena, with the play-off spot slipping further and further away. Milan had a nightmare first half, first conceding a goal from Wade following a Bouyer error, then being reduced to ten men. Zamagni made it 2-0, and to rub salt in the wound Lontani blazed a penalty over.
At the start of the second half, the Rossoneri reopened the game with Scotti taking advantage of a defensive error and lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper. However, in the final minutes, Cesena made it 3-1 with Galvagno. Perina made it 3-2 but it would prove to be just a late consolation.
The Primavera thus remain on 37 points in the standings and are in 14th place out of 20 teams. Cesena are up in fourth position, so they are one of the better sides in the division.
