CF: The highest-paid managers in Serie A this season – Pioli not in top three

By Isak Möller -

The second international break of the season is underway and now is a good time to take stock of the campaign so far. AC Milan and Stefano Pioli are in first place, but the manager is not the highest-paid manager in Serie A.

The Rossoneri have started the season very well with 21/24 points collected, losing only the derby against Inter. They certainly responded well to that game, having conceded just one goal since (all competitions).

Milan are alone at the top of the standings, two points ahead of Inter, after being joint-first with the city rivals prior to the most recent round. Despite being first, however, Pioli is not even among the top three highest-paid managers in the league.

As was reported by Calcio e Finanza last month, Pioli earns €4m per year (thanks to the renewal last season) and this puts him in fourth place. Ahead of him, we find Simone Inzaghi, Jose Mourinho and Max Allegri. Below is the full list.

  1. Massimiliano Allegri (Juventus): 7m euros net
  2. José Mourinho (Roma): 7m
  3. Simone Inzaghi (Inter): 5.5m
  4. Stefano Pioli (Milan): 4m
  5. Rudi Garcia (Napoli): 3m
  6. Gian Piero Gasperini (Atalanta): 3m
  7. Maurizio Sarri (Lazio): 3m
  8. Ivan Juric (Torino): 2m
  9. Thiago Motta (Bologna), 2m
  10. Vincenzo Italiano (Fiorentina): 1.7m
  11. Claudio Ranieri (Cagliari): 1.5m
  12. Paulo Sousa (Salernitana): 1.2m
  13. Marco Baroni (Hellas Verona): 1m
  14. Alessio Dionisi (Sassuolo): 1m
  15. Raffaele Palladino (Monza): 1m
  16. Eusebio Di Francesco (Frosinone): 750k
  17. Andrea Sottil (Udinese): 750k
  18. Paolo Zanetti (Empoli): 600k
  19. Alberto Gilardino (Genoa): 500k
  20. Roberto D’Aversa (Lecce): 500k

  1. Pioli should make the most given the squad he has is built to be financially sound which allowed the team to turn a rare profit last year. Being able to win the scudetto one year then get to the CL semis with a profitable squad in Italy is pretty impressive.

Gasperini and Italiano should be 2 and 3 behind Pioli. Just my opinion.
