Despite rumours in recent months about a renewal being imminent, Christian Pulisic has still not signed on the dotted line with AC Milan.
While there is a lot of attention on the derby in one week, Milan are also planning for the future too. This morning, there has already been talk of a defensive signing being targeted, as well as a key renewal.

Pulisic’s Milan future: the latest
Pulisic’s centrality to the Rossoneri’s plans remains unchanged. The former Chelsea man has quickly become a leader with his consistency in terms of his end product, and the standards that he is setting.
Milan are approaching the renewal issue with relative calm: there’s no doubt about the American’s commitment and contribution. Total trust aside, the 27-year-old’s contract includes a clause the club can unilaterally exercise, extending it until 2028.
CEO Giorgio Furlani is prepared to exercise it at the end of the season should the stalemate continue. The club’s primary objective, however, remains to reward the American captain with a raise from €4.4m to €5.5m net per season.
Milan had a contract ready for Pulisic to sign last spring, but the winger took his time, and was rightly disappointed with last season’s performance. He wanted to know the name of the new coach and his plans, to rekindle the enthusiasm and ambition that has always driven him throughout his career.
Allegri’s arrival has certainly fulfilled his desire for a winning manager, but now he needs to return to Europe through the front door. Pulisic wants to play in the Champions League in the prime of his career, something that Milan are currently on course to do next season.
Given the budget deficit we face for this season due to no CL means as usual there will be a major sacrifice next summer.
Who will that be?
Leao and Pulisic are really the only 2 that would generate enough funds. Perhaps that explains Nkunku signing?
This doesn’t make sense. Why wait for the summer of 2026 to make a “sacrifice” when you’ve lost CL revenue for 2025-2026? The sacrifice is made in the summer immediately following the loss of CL qualification, thus 2025. No sacrifice was made, per se. We sold Reijnders, but all of that money was reinvested, and then some. As you point out, we even spent 40M on Nkunku.
If one of Leao or Pulisic is sold, it will be because extending their contracts is not feasible. Either due to the player’s will (i.e. they want to move on) or because their wage demands are beyond what the club can afford. Any money received for them will most likely be reinvested. Another reason to sell Leao specifically, is tactical in nature. There is a lot of this season to go, but in the end they’ll have to decide if Leao truly works in Allegri’s 3-5-2. They may decided it’s better to cash in and use the money on a top striker to bring more balance to the attack. That way they will have two strikers and two support players for the front two, instead of one striker, two support players and a winger that plays out of position.
Well we know Leao is comfortable as f**k at Milan and doesn’t want to aspire to anything beyond that. So that leaves Puli who’s actually ambitious and wants the rest of his playing days matter.
This Milan doesn’t plan that well in advance. But it would be pretty sinister to have brought Nkunku in to then sell Pulisic next summer. Pulisic thus far has been the only consistent player with clutch performances.
I am repeating myself, but Pulisic want CL ball and also to play. Under Allegri’s system he will always be second choice behind Leao and whoever they get in as a #9. I believe the writing has always been on the wall. He’ll push to leave after the WC. Anyone, tell my why I’m wrong.
And to ‘play’ means him playing in CL games, not just playing against lower teams or meaningless Italian cup games.
The financial year ended on June 30th.

There would have been a loss without selling Tiji.
Those results included revenue from champions League 24-25.
This season 25-26 we face a shortfall or crica 80 -100m that we won’t have from CL this season.
They will be looking to cover the losses.
