Chelsea have raised their offer for Mike Maignan, and a new potential replacement has emerged for AC Milan.

Possible outgoings have dominated the media headlines when it comes to Milan, and Maignan has been at the forefront of them. His deal expires at the end of next season, and virtually every source is claiming he has asked to join Chelsea.

From Maignan to Perri?

According to Sky, Chelsea are closing in on signing Maignan. There is no agreement between the clubs at the moment, but the Premier League side have raised their offer to €21m, and the deal is ‘nearing a possible conclusion’.

Milan are trying to hold out because of Massimiliano Allegri’s wishes to keep him, but the Frenchman’s contract expires in June 2026 and Chelsea are pushing to close, with any hopes of a renewal having seemingly vanished.

The Rossoneri, in the meantime, are thinking about a possible replacement and the choice could fall on Lucas Perri of Lyon. The Brazilian goalkeeper, who is 27 years of age, made 45 appearances across all competitions last season.

The other profiles evaluated by the Rossoneri are Mile Svilar of Roma and Zion Suzuki of Parma. Both clubs have put up a wall for now though, so Perri therefore seems to be the possible replacement if Maignan were to depart.

  1. I never saw Perri play, so I can’t judge him. But, from what I just learned from his Wikipedia page, Lyon owes his former club 50% of the sell-on clause. So he surely won’t be cheap because Lyon will only get half of the transfer fee.

  2. Why aren’t we going for Vanja Milinković-Savić?

According to data, he was the best goalkeeper in Serie A last season, by far. Svillar was second.

    1. Resale value? Once we’re done with him we cannot sell him for PROFIT. And we all know how much our management loves the word in all-caps, now don’t we?

      1. But it’s not really the case with Mike and Theo. They’re looking for break even after amortization with them. Maybe a slight profit. I think in the end we will get Vanja. He’s the most affordable from the lot.

        1. Vanja would be easy and reliable. Get it sorted and focus on getting the new LB, midfielder and probably the Leao-replacement too. Why waste time on the GK when you already have Vanja’s approval? The incompetence of the management is spreading and affecting Tare & Allegri too I see…

      2. It doesn’t make sense since he is only a year younger than VMS. Why wouldn’t we be able to sell him for a profit? You never know. But I suspect this guy would cost less than 20M, so that is the reason.

      3. When they sign mature players, you complain they are too old.
When they sign younger players, you complain resale value.

Is there ever any time you think rationally?

You can disagree with the management, but you don’t necessarily need to complain about about everything like a teenage girl during menstruation, that’s hatred.
Also, you can love a club legend, like we all do, but you necessarily do not need to agree 100% with everything he does, that’s a teenage obsession and foolishness.

    2. Milinkovic-Savic is the best buy. He costs 20 mil and in 5 years his fee would be amortized and they can sell him for 5 mil and make a small profit in the books.

He still “only” 28 years old and knows the league very well. His stats speaks for themselvevs

If we get 21 mil for a 30 year old Maignan and can buy a 28 year old Milinkovic-Savic for 20 mil, thats a good deal

  3. And the hunt for nobodies begins!
JUST STICK TO LOCAL GUYS! Get back to Milanismo and start from basics! Build upon a solid base of humble, hard working lads, ideally Italians… then add cherries

    1. Fully agree with you mate, but just to throw one thing – Perri is half Italian. He has Italian passport, Italian descent. Not the same as lad from Serie A but still something.

      1. He is also a good sweeper keeper, quite good with the ball at his feet. And better shot stopper than Maignan. No point to insult the guy if we have other preferences.

  4. I think they’ll go for Vanja in the end. He’s the most affordable and with best stats from the lot. As much as I’d like Carnessechi, Vanja is a no brainer really.

  5. They couldn’t tell Chelsea it is 25M or nothing, but next year? Take it or leave it. If they can’t come up for 25M for Mike Maignan after spending over 200M on keepers in 10 seasons then they should find a cheaper player they can afford.

  6. Agree with you bro.

As a fan, I do really want Milan have players that are mentioned by others. But, I think just give Tare and Allegri time.

I pretty sure, that Allegri (even he is not my choice) will reject players that he looks not fit to his scheme.

So, lets see what Tare can bring, after Modric. And I believe, he will work for the good of the team.
