After the renewal of Tijjani Reijnders, more good news should come soon for AC Milan as Christian Pulisic is ready to put pen to paper.
Pulisic is one of the leaders at Milan and in his second season at the club he is cementing his status as the decisive man even during a turbulent campaign. His goals in the derby and propensity to bail the team out of a tough moment are a testament to his quality and attitude.
According to MilanNews, the current contract that ties Pulisic to Milan has an expiration date of 30 June 2027 with a salary of around €4m net per season. The Rossoneri management sought to extend that initial four-year deal, and negotiations in recent weeks have been positive.
Indeed, the winger should soon pen a new contract until 2029 (unless the FIFA rules change in the coming months) with a salary increase of around €5m net per season plus bonuses. A fair recognition for a player and a professional who has always put Milan before everything and everyone.
Pulisic could have arrived at Milan in the summer of 2022, when Chelsea phoned late in the window with an offer for Rafael Leao. The Diavolo wanted €100m to sell the Portuguese, so the Blues offered Pulisic – who they valued at €65m – plus cash.
A year later, the former Dortmund man arrived at Milan for €18m plus bonuses. He got his 50th goal contribution since arriving (30 goals, 20 assists) in the 2-1 win over Lecce, and in just 88 appearances, with his market value rocketing again.
Chelsea was really optimistic at valuing Pulisic. If they valued him at 20M that was realistic at the time Milan might have sold Leao.
Pulisic played like a 60m player his first year. His value only dropped off a cliff because of back to back serious injuries.
What a difference competent teammates can make!
Christian Pulisic actually leads Serie A in chances created and chances created per 90 minutes (53 chances created and 2.75 chances per 90 minutes). The only two players in all of Serie A who are even close are Rafa Leao (51/2.45 per 90) and Adama Lookman (49, 2.66 per 90).
Lukaku and Nuno Tavares both have 8 assists (compared to CP’s 6), even though they’ve only created 28/1.19 per 90 (Lukaku) and 31/1.83 per 90 (Tavares) chances. The only other person with more assists than CP is Leao, and for 7 assists, he has created 51 chances (as stated above, 51/2.45 per 90).
Lukaku and Tavares create chances, and their teammates score every 3.5 to 4 chances. By comparison, Leao and CP need to create 8 to 9 chances per assist.

Great comment.
Very true, interesting stat is Leao has an expected assist of 5.6 while Pulisic has a 4.2 showing that teammates let Leao down when he does pass the ball. Overall, Pulisic has an expected G + A of 13.2 while Leao has 11.7. Pulisic has the highest conversion rate on the team at 22.5 and Leao at 10.9 . Contrary to what you’d think this team would be more prolific if we had Leao dishing out the passes to Pulisic instead of the other way around. It would be a real shame to split these two up given they just started working together last season.

Or Pulisic’s service is more quality and easier to score from. Lots of Leao’s passes are “almost but not quite”-passes. I also wonder whether the passes that miss the teammates are counted as Leao sprays his crosses and passes all over the box but never finding a teammate…
Kudos on homework well done
he wasn’t without his flaws, but it’s this data that makes me miss Oli. I felt like he seemed more of a threat than our forwards do now.
I hope Leao can go to Man City. That will be the perfect team for him. He will average more than 10 assist per season EASILY. Not here where we want him to be a left back and a forward lol
He need to convince Pep first LOL
