Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has commented on the rumours linking his club with a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

In the past couple of weeks there have been intense rumours regarding Maignan joining Chelsea. Several major sources even claimed that the Frenchman was pushing for the move, having been frustrated over the lack of renewal news from Milan. However, things then hit the buffers.

It seems that the Premier League side submitted a take it or leave it bid to try and get Maignan through the door before the Club World Cup, which has just starting in the USA. It was not accepted, and now there is talk of Massimiliano Allegri trying to reopen the renewal route.

Maresca responds

Maresca spoke at a press conference ahead of Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup debut against Los Angeles FC, confirming among other things that Maignan will not join him in London. His comments were relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“Robert Sanchez is number one, we have Filip Jorgensen as number two. Penders will join us in the next few weeks to analyse him, judge him and make a final decision. Then, for Maignan or other players, I don’t think it’s worth talking about,” he said.

  1. So two players who both player and club overestimated their value on the market and are now surely set to leave for free instead.

Hopefully redemption year for Mike, Theo and Milan.

  2. let’s hope he will leave AC Milan. his form last season was very poor. plus a lot of injuries.
    .
apart from this he all the time thinking about money and no about AC Milan. in Milan should stay only players who loves AC Milan.

    1. Mike just thinks about money???? LOLOLOLO

Mikes been asking to sign the extension but it was management who were stalling. Facts

AND Don’t forget we SELL players who love Milan pal – (see Tonali) – crazy

    2. He is playing at 2.5m salary since last 4years.
Nothing comes for free in life and he already reach his peak age to get good salary but he is asking only for 5m but club broke promise of renewal.
Do you even have any common sense to say Miagnan is looking for money?

  3. Chelsea is funny they bought garbage players too much money but wanted to buy one of the best keepers so cheap. Leave him alone and continue with your last season goalkeeper

    1. So as Milan, they rate Maignan very poor but want 30m for a player in 30’s and last year of contract.
Remember he is getting paid 2.5m 😂
Other fans will laugh if they know this!
