Report: Chelsea had scout at San Siro to watch Milan and Inter stars

By Oliver Fisher -

Chelsea had a scout present last night at the derby between AC Milan and Inter with three players the subject of interest, according to a report.

According to The Boot Room, Chelsea were there to watch Mike Maignan of Milan plus Federico Dimarco and Lautaro Martinez of Inter. The latter two celebrated as the Nerazzurri triumphed 2-1, sealing the league title in the process.

More specifically on Maignan, the report claims that he has been a long-term target for the London club and they sense an opportunity to potentially land him given that his deal expires in June 2026 and there are at the moment no signs of an imminent renewal.

Chelsea have been in the market for a new number one for the future for some time, and this summer is when they could make a substantial investment to fix things.

It seems as though Milan could face difficulties in getting Maignan to extend his contract. At the moment, the former Lille man receives €2.8m net per season and is asking for a big pay rise for the renewal.

Milan intend to double his salary in order to keep him, but it may not be enough, all while there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the project and who will be the next head coach.
