Olivier Giroud has responded to the kind words from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, confirming that Milan are ‘an option’ for his future.

Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Swede spoke about a number of different topics and was asked about the possible arrival of Giroud.

“The more high level players we manage to sign, the better. Giroud has great experience and we don’t have many players who have won trophies. If he comes he is welcome. Also because this is a very helpful group, who wants to learn and improve, a well-guided work group,” he said.

Many took it as a strong hint that the 34-year-old is set to arrive, but then Chelsea’s official website confirmed this afternoon that the Frenchman has now extended his contract until 2022 despite all the strong speculation that he is Milan-bound.

Calciomercato.com spoke to a member of Giroud’s entourage after the new to clarify what the state of play is regarding his situation, confirming that he could still depart as long as it is an offer from a foreign club, implying the clause has been triggered to prevent a domestic move.

Now, Giroud has spoken to RMC Sport and responded to Ibrahimovic, as well as commenting on the idea of a move to Milan.

“Ibrahimovic wants me at AC Milan? It’s always a pleasure to hear Zlatan say this kind of things, I’ll take it as an extra motivation. My future? I don’t want to talk about it, Milan is certainly an option among other ones,” he said (via MilanPosts).
