AC Milan want to ensure that they get the best value out of Theo Hernandez, and whether that be keeping him or selling him, one thing is certain: he can’t leave for free.
Theo’s future is a really confusing ordeal, given we are entering a second summer with no idea about what is happening. Last summer, it seemed likely that he would sign a contract extension, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic vouching as much.
However, he stated that he was not sure about his future when with the French National Team during the European Championship. Since then, there has been a lot of back and forth, though the contract situation has not changed.
By all accounts, the defender wants to stay with the Rossoneri and extend his contract, and it seems like money is no longer as much of a factor. Then, the club also would like him around beyond next season, as they have relayed that message to his entourage. Yet still, there has been no movement.
With another summer approaching, when Theo will be at his most valuable – until/if he renews – there is a need to gain clarity, and today, some new clubs of interest have been revealed.
According to TBR Football, via Football Italia, Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham have each got a liking for the Frenchman, and all are looking at the €30 million price tag with intrigue.
Why would we give PL clubs a bargain price when they could easily pay a lot more?
For 30 million we won’t be getting anything good in.
Extend hid contract if he wants to stay.
His dropp in form, his age and his last year of contract effect his market value a lot.
Also, being in last year of contract, his ammortisation fee will reach lowest possible value, 1 year before end of contract. Which means goos capital gain even for smaller price .
Milan will definitely think about any offer but here player is one who will choose to stay or not to stay. Milan is in bad position one year before his contract expiration.
But club like City can offer huge salary which can flipped the script in players mind.
Because people don’t just pay whatever you feel like asking them to pay. Even the wealthiest have budgets, even if they’re higher than the rest. 30M for a player in their final contract year implies a value of 70-90M if under long term contract. So that’s seems about right for Theo, despite the decline in performance.
Still he is good,
No good replacement available,
Better keep him
my issue with his attitude which effect the whole team. I am with the idea of selling him. His stay will harm the team rather than the benefit he brings
He have same attitude since he came to Milan but it depends on Milan management who have no role in the team.
With Theo there was more brotherhood and team culture.
Today We have only some individuals not collective team anymore, if you think Theo is problem then you are living in some fantasy world.
Remember which player have issues with Theo, actually none. But there are many players Theo have brotherhood and everyone praise him, some even meet him when we meet against other teams.
You have only a year left to blame Theo, start finding a new scapegoat to blame for every problem or mismanagement of this team
Anyone else feel like it was a crying shame we let Kerkez go? Could easily have accelerated him into the 1st team squad as Theo’s backup … now that guy is literally one of the best LBs in the PL.
Sure he might not have developed as rapidly on our bench compared to starting week in week out for Bournemouth but still, what a replacement we’d have once we sell Theo.
