Federico Chiesa’s adventure with Liverpool is not going the way either party planned at the moment, and a return to Serie A is possible.
According to Calciomercato.com, a departure in January cannot be ruled out for Chiesa despite the fact he only joined in the summer. He recently returned to the pitch after almost three months of absence, in a League Cup match against Southampton.
However, the Italy international not at all happy with the little playing time that coach Arne Slot is giving him and could therefore consider asking for a move. He has made only four appearances in total, obtaining 123 minutes, which is not enough for the 27-year-old.
Slot commented recently on Chiesa as follows: “What he needs is to play, the problem is that if he hasn’t played for five or six months sometimes it’s difficult for a manager to give him his first minutes, because you don’t know exactly what to expect.”
Despite the difficult moment, there is no shortage of suitors for Chiesa, especially in Serie A where he shone with Fiorentina and Juventus. Inter are keen but need to sell, while Roma and Milan have him on their radar, and Napoli cannot be ruled out either.
There is an issue for Italian clubs, though: Chiesa’s current salary of almost €7.5m net per season is huge, so Liverpool would have to agree to covering a sizeable chunk of it.
It was recently reported that Milan are thinking about signing a new winger with targets in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga. The reason? Samu Chukwueze and Okafor have disappointed so far this season due to injuries, form and just not being what Paulo Fonseca wants.
Berardi is better, cheaper and asks less money. Easypeasy. Forget about Chiesa.
How can you talk about Berrardi ??!!!! The guy hates milan and said it in public … and he refused milan transfer ones !!!!
People do crazy sh1t for money.
Berardi is too old
The guy seems very happy at the Club and is always smiling and laughing when caught on camera. He will get game time and should add to Liverpool’s title push. As for Liverpool forking out a huge sum to cover part of his salary, that’s idiotic. No club has a loan player then loans him out and pays part of his wages. A daft and made up typical Italian press story.
You must be new to football.

No thanks. I’m sorry for him but he physically is an ex-player. He will retire in a year or two..
Retire in a year or two 😀 come on that’s excessively over dramatic as he just turned 27 in October.
I wouldn’t mind us signing him but leans more towards us signing Berardi as he offers more guarantees in g/a pr. match and comes at a far lower cost in salary.
I really hope for Berardi , but if not, even Chiesa can be good upgrade, he also knows Seria A and can help to fight for top 4.. Both Chiesa and Berardi are better upgrade then Chuk .
And if we buy Chiesa, I think he would lower his demands for maybe half … but question is his price , but let’s be honest, we don’t want to buy him in summer , I don’t think we buy him now
I agree that both would be a great upgrade compared to Chukwueze who has been a huge disappointment even if he has shown a handful of glimpses of his qualities its far from enough.
I would take Chiesa if on loan and with an option to buy as I see no reason why we should get him up in form to then see him leave later on. The fee shouldn’t be an issue as Liverpool bought him for 12 mil and that certainly wouldn’t be too much for a player of his calibre in the event they wanted to let him go.
I think the real issue would be his salary as he would have to accept to cut a fair share of his wages to join us and he seemingly left Juventus as he wasn’t happy about their 7 mil offer.
In the end though Berardi can probably join us for 10-15 mil on a salary of maybe 3.5-4 mil which is less than Chukwueze currently earns with us.
Many of us would be really happy for Berardi, but I have bad feeling we don’t buy him , rather buy some young ” ultra power talent ” from France for 20m€ who has big potential and it ends like with Chuk…or Like with Leao, we will wait 2,5 years for his real talent…
Yeah I think you are right at least in the sense that we wont pursue him but not even sure we will find someone with a great promise either. What we need now is guarantees and Berardi has proven to offer that in Serie A.
Chiesa left Juventus for more money and he got what he wanted. I don’t think he’s bothered by sitting on the bench and not playing. If that was the case then he would stayed in Serie A.
No thanks to an injury prone player who can’t stay healthy for more than 2 games with a ridiculous salary.
Milan should try for Diaz who hasn’t renewed yet with Liverpool.
Zhegrova…
Chiesa himself said hes dreamed of a move to Liverpool and despite his injuries and rehab hes always positive. He will be crucial towards the end of the season, along with Jota & Bradley. If anyone needs to leave its Nunez. Hardworking sure, but so wasteful its criminal and no sign of improving. Ill take Solanke or Isak. The whole team balance is different when they have to accomodate Darwin. Chiesa will make a huge difference though. I love his directness, and Ngumoha on the left next season. Exciting times.
If fit, Chiesa could indeed be useful at Liverpool. Technically he is the kind of player Liverpool use: fast, dribbling. However, he can hardly stay fit, so there is a difference between theory and practice.
Lol…
Chiesa is not atleast 50% level of Mo Salah.
Chiesa stay on bench all his time until there is mo Salah. Salah always scores and plays 90min game weekin, weekout and hardly gets injured.
If Salah renew again for 2years then it’s better for Chiesa to either leave or retire.
Why the hell would he retire when he has a contract with Liverpool running until 2028 ?
What about Riccardo Orsolini ?
Not too young, not too old. He always scores quite the number each season despite playing with Bologna (last season he had 10G+2A in less than 2000 minutes, in 2022/23 he had 11G+4G in 2200 minutes, in 2021/22 he had 7G+4A in 1800 minutes and this season he already has 7G+2A), he is not always a starter to rotation is more affordable, is Italian so no foreigner slot and already knows the serie A.
Also he won’t be too expensive IMO.
Chiesa had shown that he isn’t serious. Waste of money to bring him.
Juve was right to cur him lose
Milan should go for Diaz from Liverpool,he did not sign any contract yet,go for him please.
I think is a good move from Milan, to get more italian player, n Chiesa also can use to be good compete with Chukuweze.
