Chukwueze admits Milan have ‘a lot to learn’ under Fonseca but have ‘great feeling’ – video

By Oliver Fisher -

Samuel Chukwueze has admitted that there is still a lot of work for the AC Milan squad to do in order to get to grips with Paulo Fonseca’s ideas.

Milan began their preseason tour in the best possible way as they beat the Premier League champions at Yankee Stadium on Saturday night. Lorenzo Colombo got a brace – with Chukwueze assisting both – and Marco Nasti got the winner off the bench inside the last 15 minutes.

Chukwueze was interviewed by Milan TV at the end of the game and he reflected on what was an entertaining encounter as well as preseason preparations in general.

“We had a great feeling in this second friendly. It wasn’t an easy match and winning it was exactly what the team and our coach needed to have more belief and train better,” he said.

“We still have a lot to learn about the coach’s schemes. We made some mistakes but we managed to limit them and we took our chances. We have to continue working and stay focused on the season.

“I’m very happy to be part of the team from the beginning. I hope to be able to give my best for the team this season to show my worth.

“Florenzi? Let’s hope it’s nothing serious for Florenzi, because he’s a fantastic player and he helped us in this game before he got hurt. I pray for him that it’s nothing serious.

“He’s a good guy who motivates me both on and off the pitch and he’s a fantastic player. Everyone needs a player of this caliber in their team, I hope he comes back to play with us soon. That’s all I ask.”

  1. “Everyone needs a player of this caliber in their team”.

Yep. Even on the bench he’s more valuable than most players on the pitch.
