CIES: Milan lead Europe in players used – the staggering numbers

AC Milan lead Europe in a particular statistic, a report has revealed, but it is not necessarily one that you would want to be a leader in.

As the CIES Football Observatory states, no other team in the ‘top five’ European leagues has used more players than Milan up to this point in the season.

In total, the Rossoneri have played 32 different players which is ahead of four teams who are joint-second on 30: Newcastle, Granada, Real Betis and Sevilla.

Obviously this is largely conditions by the sheer amount of injuries that Milan have had to key players, and thus the necessity to call upon the Primavera for reinforcements.

For example, Pioli has handed a senior debut to Alex Jimenez, Kevin Zeroli, Chaka Traore, Jan-Carlo Simic, Davide Bartesaghi and Francesco Camarda already this season.

Below is the list of all the different players used by Pioli:

Goalkeepers: Maignan, Sportiello, Mirante.

Defenders: Tomori, Thiaw, Calabria, Theo Hernandez, Kjaer, Florenzi, Kalulu, Bartesaghi, Simic, Jimenez, Pellegrino.

Midfielders: Loftus-Cheek, Reijnders, Bennacer, Musah, Krunic, Adli, Pobega, Terracciano, Zeroli.

Forwards: Giroud, Leao, Pulisic, Chukwueze, Jovic, Okafor, Romero, Chaka Traorè, Camarda.

The sheer amount of players used by Milan is perhaps something that Pioli could use in his defence after tough patches of form.
