It is no secret that AC Milan want to try and get everything agreed so they can start building a new stadium in San Donato, and a big first step has arrived.
According to Il Cittadino (via MilanNews), yesterday evening there was a very important first official step as the Council have in fact given the green light to the proposal for an urban planning variant that the Rossoneri, through the SportLifeCity, had presented in the town hall last September 27th.
This morning at 11:30am CET a press conference will be held by the local Council, during which the mayor Francesco Squeri will explain the contents of the provision and future developments.
Last night was a fundamental first step which will now begin the long process which should be completed within a couple of years with the signing of the Program Agreement by the Lombardy Region.
The urban planning variant proposal was necessary because, until a few months ago, an 18,000 seat arena was planned to be built in the San Francesco area where Milan wants to build its stadium. This changed when Milan acquired the SportLifeCity vehicle.
After the approval of the Council, the next step will be the green light for the project from the City Council, which is expected in the next few weeks.
