Il Cittadino: San Donato remains Milan’s priority despite city council statement

AC Milan and Inter are both considering buying the San Siro land, as was announced by the city council yesterday. However, as clarified by a report today, the San Donato project is still the Rossoneri’s priority.

The city council of Milano published a statement yesterday which confirmed that a new meeting will take place with Milan and Inter in September. This is because both clubs are studying the idea of buying the San Siro land.

However, as reported by Il Cittadino this morning (via MilanNews), the San Donato project remains the priority of Milan and Gerry Cardinale. The meeting with the council is simply to keep all possibilities open, but it should once again be highlighted that Milan are making great progress in San Donato.

Renovating the San Siro is one option, as is building a completely new stadium next to the current one. Inter are also working on their project in Rozzano, so the clubs could end up leaving even if an agreement were to be reached with the council.

It remains to be seen how the San Siro saga will end, but Milan count on their new stadium in San Donato being ready during the 2028-29 season.
