Club Brugge coach remains defiant on De Ketelaere: “For me he is still part of the team”

Club Brugge head coach Carl Hoefkens has insisted that he still considers Charles De Ketelaere to be part of his plans ahead of their season opening game this weekend.

Milan have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 21-year-old attacking midfielder over the past few weeks, with numerous sources suggesting that the Rossoneri management are getting close to striking a deal that would be in excess of €30m for one of Belgium’s most promising talents.

Brugge attacking midfielder Hans Vanaken believes that his team-mate De Ketelaere has what it takes to make the move to Milan, and jokes about Paolo Maldini’s visit to the country and the possibility of facing off against the Belgian in the Champions League.

Hoefkens spoke to the media ahead of Brugge’s first game of the season against KRC Genk on Sunday and he was asked about the future of De Ketelaere, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“For me he is still part of the team, he is available on Sunday. It is certainly not an easy moment for him, he has not never experienced anything like it,” he said.
