GdS: Latest Club Brugge star dreams of following De Ketelaere and Jashari to Milan

Nicolò Tresoldi is the latest young star shining for Club Brugge, and his dream is to one day play for AC Milan.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write, only one Italian scored in the first round of the Champions League, but he is in fact German. Tresoldi plays at Club Brugge, was born in Cagliari, grew up in Gubbio, and comes from a family of talent.

His father, Emanuele, won the U21 European Championship with Italy in 1994, and played for Cesena, Atalanta, Ravenna and Castel di Sangro Gubbio among others. Nicolò, born in 2004, is a striker, and he is on the up.

Firstly he played for Hannover, from the youth team to his debut in the 2. Bundesliga (Germany’s second division), then with the Germany U21s, and since this summer with Club Brugge, who paid €6m for him.

He made his Champions League debut on Thursday evening: after just over half an hour, he was already celebrating his first goal in Europe’s top club competition, with a flash of the right foot in the Belgian club’s 4-1 win over Monaco.

Tresoldi has got a taste for goals: on Sunday he repeated the feat in the league, against Mechelen, once again with a predatory touch in the penalty area, opening his account in the Jupiler League.

Milan dream

As a young player, Tresoldi spent time at Milan, trained with Juventus and received invitations for trials from Roma, Fiorentina, Bologna and Atalanta. But he was still young, lived in Gubbio, and by rules couldn’t move outside the region, not until he turned 14.

After five years in the country, Nicolò was able to legally obtain a German passport (while maintaining dual Italian citizenship), partly due to pressure from the local football federation, which had closely observed his development.

A piece of his heart remains Italian, however. He’s a huge Milan fan, even wearing Andriy Shevchenko’s No.7 at Brugge. He takes inspiration from Pippo Inzaghi – but also from Luis Suarez and Rafa Nadal – and his dream is to play for the Rossoneri.

His father said about his desire to join Milan: “And you won’t take it away from him even if you talk to him about Real Madrid. Charles De Ketelaere and Ardon Jashari have already made the move from Brugge to Milan, could Nicolo be the next?
