A swap deal between AC Milan and Inter involving midfielder Franck Kessie was explored during the January transfer window, a report claims.
According to Calciomercato.com, Kessie could have become an Inter player during the most recent window, crossing the city divide.
It was more than just an idea for Antonio Conte who is a big admirer of the Ivorian: the Italian coach believed he could correct Kessie’s defects and enhance his potential.
A dialogue between the two clubs took place not only involving a swap for midfielder Matias Vecino, but also one that would have seen Matteo Politano – who ended up joining Napoli – swap the Nerazzurri for the Rossoneri.
The deal discussed was on the basis of a loan exchange with an obligation to buy on each. The two clubs talked about it for days, but Inter did not want the obligation inserted for Kessie, while Milan wanted to sell Kessie to Inter so as to record a capital gain, before using that money to buy Politano.
However, the idea of a potential swap deal discussion for the summer window is not ruled out, the report concludes.
