CM: AC Milan face competition from Spain for €45m Man Utd outcast

AC Milan face competition from LaLiga in their pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to a report.

The Rossoneri are expected to be busy in the January transfer window after a dismal first half of the season which sees them currently sat in 11th place in the table.

Milan were demolished 5-0 by Lombardy neighbours Atalanta on Sunday to ensure that the team would not have a happy Christmas.

It has recently been reported by a number of outlets that Milan could look to sell Franck Kessie and replace him with a more defensive-minded midfield, which Matic among the possible targets to replace him.

In fact, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Saturday morning (via MilanNews.it) that Matic is the first name on their wish list – a player who is finding little game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

According to Calciomercato.com though, the Diavolo face competition from Atletico Madrid for the Serbia international, who cost United £40m (€45m) when he joined from Chelsea (via The Independent).
