CM: Adli skips Milan training with move imminent – the terms agreed with Fiorentina

Yacine Adli has missed today’s training session at Milanello as a move to Fiorentina is now on the verge of completion, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com report that Adli has agreed to leave Milan despite his initial idea being to stay with the Rossoneri even as a reserve option, as has almost always been the case since his arrival from Bordeaux three years ago.

Having arrived as a playmaker, over time Adli has been moved back to become a defensive midfielder, but this adaptation has not been enough to convince the new head coach Paulo Fonseca to keep him around as shown by the fact he was excluded from the squad for the first two league games.

The Frenchman has said yes to Fiorentina and in the next few hours the plan is that he will travel to Tuscany to undergo medical tests and sign the contract. Marseille were also interested in him, but La Viola were quicker as they did not need to sell before buying.

The basis of the deal is a loan with an option to buy around €13m, and if the loan were made permanent he would sign a four-year deal. The former Bordeaux man is not training with Fonseca’s team today precisely because of how close the move is.

  1. Good luck to Adli.
Smart move to leave instead of staying like the last 2 years and not play.
One of the very few players these last 2+ years whose effort was never in question.

    1. You think Adli was the answer to “hardcore long passes and creative playmaking” ? hahaha

The few times he did that and you seem to have forgotten all the garbage passes he made in the middle and the times he lost the ball to spark counters?

  2. He has been a great professional and a valued squad member. I hope things work out well for him!

I’d love to have seen him get a chance to play in a 433, as the quality he has on the ball and passing is very good.

He will always have our hearts

  3. Great attitude and heart which other players should take notice of. Unfortunately he isn’t good enough for us as I percieve it. He seems to have a fairly great vision but often lacks urgency in his passing, and precision and therefore ends up looking like Bambi on ice from time to time so for me it makes sense offloading him.
I nevertheless wish him all the best and he should have an easier path to first team football at Fiorentina than with us.

  4. Fonceca doesn’t seem to have eye for talent….too bad for Adli, I wish him the best ‼️ perhaps Adli becomes a great playmaker at Fiorentina ‼️⚽️⚽️⚽️

  5. Adli is a really nice guy, in personal terms; he is beloved by his companions. In addition to this, he is a true Milanista. He works extremely hard and has great attitude. For all of the above, I thank him for his service to Milan and wish him the best.

However as a footballer I think that Adli has some glaring defects. Sure, he is creative. Sure, he has good vision. But unfortunately he is also slow, and he often does a very poor defending job. While sometimes he passes the ball well (vertically, offensively), at other times he does a lot of lateral passes and back passes.

I think Adli is an average player with a ceiling. As an average player, he is capable of having great games (in a couple of occasions he was even the Man of the Match), but he is also capable of having horrible games. This averages out as… an average player – who is somewhat overrated by the fan base (probably because of his real qualities that I’ve mentioned in my first paragraph, and also based on the few games when he was excellent; too bad that these do not happen very often).

Given that we have too many players and more players than we can register for the lists, letting Adli go is not a mistake.

Keeping Jovic and shipping out Colombo, however, is a clear mistake. I can’t understand that one. Not only Colombo is better than Jovic, but also he is Italian and home grown which works well for the lists. Why on Earth it was decided to get rid of Colombo and keep Jovic is a deep mystery for me.

    1. I agree about Colombo. He is just starting to fill his frame and fulfill his potential.
It’s very hard for a young guy to develop when he is on loan after loan at clubs who are not motivated to develop him.
He would get more scoring chances at Milan and surely would be more effective than Jovic.

I have ZERO faith in the current mangements ability to build a squad. It’s a total mess!
