CM: Ageing quartet certain to leave Milan – the latest on Kjaer and Saelemaekers

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the 2019/20 won’t be finished until the beginning of August. This has forced the clubs to sign short-term deals with the players that are sitting on expiring contracts (June 30).

Milan have agreed to renew the contracts of Asmir Begovic, Lucas Biglia, Giacomo Bonaventura, Simon Kjaer, Alexis Saelemaekers and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They will all be tied to the club until August 31st, according to a report from Calciomercato.com.

However, after the deadline, it will be time for goodbyes: Begovic, Biglia, Bonaventura and Ibrahimovic are certain to leave the Rossoneri at the end of the season. As for Kjaer and Saelemaekers, though, the discussion is different.

Milan have reassured Anderlecht that they will pay the buy-out clause in the Belgian midfielder’s contract, meaning he will continue his adventure at the club.

The chances of the Danish defender staying are also increasing thanks to his recent performances on the pitch, and the €3.5m buy-out clause certainly helps. However, the final decision will be made by Ralf Rangnick.
