AC Milan came close to securing the services of Enzo Fernandez before he joined Benfica. The move broke down at the last second, though, and Geoffrey Moncada is now on a new mission in Argentina.
Moncada has several collaborators all over the world, as reported by Calciomercato.com, and one of his scouts who covers South American football discovered Enzo Fernandez. The move to Milan was almost wrapped up but didn’t get the go-ahead in the end.
The same scout is now on a new mission in Argentina, as the report continues, and there are three names on the list: Valentin Barco (left-back), Exequiel Zeballos (winger) and above all Ezequiel Fernandez (midfielder). All three are owned by Boca Juniors and have impressed lately.
Moncada is in close contact with his collaborator, who has followed the Argentina side closely in the last few months. It remains to be seen if Milan will make a move for one of them, keen on not making the same mistake they made with Enzo Fernandez.
Dont lie about why the move broke down, it broke because our previous genius directors were obssessed with Sanchez and spent all their time on that failure
I think Maldini’s still trying to bring Sanches to Milan.
lol
Oh! Come on now, can’t you just move on from that.
I’m not fussed that we missed out on Enzo – Alvarez is the biggest – went in too late for him
We need to realise that we are not alone in this world. Other teams exist as well and as much as we hate it, they can be more tempting destinations. Other teams also do scouting, we haven’t invented the wheel first, Moncada is good but many other teams do at least as good scouting as his team.
Alvarez had a (low) release clause and he was wanted by half Europe. He chose City, not very difficult to understand why.
Well said, mate.
If Moncada wants an Argentina player, he should look after Guido Rodríguez from Real Betis, a DM who holds an Italian passport. His contract ends in June 24, transfermarkt value is 28M, we need this guy.
Since Taremi didn’t join, we still have a Non EU spot, right?
