CM: Arnautovic idea gaining momentum for Milan as striker rejects Roma

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will have to make changes to the attacking department this summer and a new striker could arrive from Bologna, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com report, only Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud are certain to stay at the moment, with the likes of Divock Origi, Ante Rebic (who has a market in Germany) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all potentially heading for the exit door.

Milan are thinking of a future without Zlatan in particular given his age, injury problems and the fact his contract is expiring, and there is already a potential replacement lined up for the Swede: Marko Arnautovic.

The Austrian striker is now 34 but he knows Serie A, seems to guarantee goals and can offer an alternative to Pioli in the attack. He is under contract at Bologna until 2025 but a summer exit seems certain, and he said no to Roma because he wants the Rossoneri.

Now, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara must now find an agreement with the Rossoblu. His salary would not be an obstacle as the former West Ham striker earns €3m net per season, around €4.5m gross thanks to the Growth Decree.

  1. As a back up I mean why not but if he is the final solution for our attack I mean we might as well start to cheer for Venezia

  2. Just watched all 21 of his goals from 21/22…

Impressive. Maybe this answers my do we stick with Origi or CDK question.

If we did sign him we’d need to cut those 2 loose.

  3. To quote the Lego Batman movie, “No, no, no, no, no, no, nononono, no, NO!”

No disrespect, but he does not even fit the criteria that our club is looking for at the moment. I would rather gamble on a youngster.

    1. he offers a lot more security in goals than most youngsters and he is also a pretty tall and dominant player at 1.92m . I would say if he is brought in as a third choice for the attack this could be a really smart move. Besides of that he is a two footed player and can also be fielded on either wing if needed.

      1. Dude wtf? Top scorer of France, wc champion, cl winner, el winner, italian & french champion. And you think some x random dude who played in foking china is better than Giroud? Has a handfull of matches in cl at 34 and is better than Giroud? Jesus…
Going for Marko is loser mentality. Maldini and Massara are thinking like losers if we bring that old fart in..

        1. The real loser mentality is to think one knows better than the management calling them losers. but sure if he was brought in as our starter it would be a bit worrying but i believe if he actually joins us it will be as a backup player which then would leave room for our young players to stay out on loan while further developing.
I do agree though that giroud is the better player of the two but that doesnt mean that arnautovic wouldnt be able to offer a fair share of goals and the player is pretty good at bossing defenders true his size.

          1. nah man.. Going for an old fart like that, even as a back up is massive loser thinking. I get you buy Ibra and Giroud. World class, winners tho old.. acceptable..
Not Arnautović. He’s alright, for a club like Bologna.. Milan must aim for better players.
Might as well get Petković from zagreb.. 6 years younger, contract until 2024, plays for a million there. Why would you pay 3M if you can get the same suff for 1M? Not to mention he’d be much more hungry to prove himself than an old fart

          2. Boy ? 😀 im in my 40ies and has been an ac milan fan for over 30 years so pretty sure you are the boy here considering your name and comment,
He does offer more guarantees than most kids 20 years old that is unless we are willing to splash some cash for a substitute and his numbers proves he can fairly consistantly score goals and whether you agree with that or not isnt really my issue as its plain for all to see for everyone. with a set of eyes.

      2. Incorrect, but is good. In addition to a very good sense of the goal and finishing has always had a mean streak to him.Kind of a prick, but you need that.

  4. Another 34yr old striker? Is Maldini high on drugs or something.

This is a stupid decision. Milan can get Armando Borja from Chelsea on loan with option to buy. Marcus Thuram is a free agent also.

Lois Openda and Wahli are both younger and more mobile and athletic than Arnautovic.

Why in hell does Maldini keep targeting older strikers? Mandzukic, renewing Ibra after winning scudetto knowing his bad injury issues and now renewing Giroud’s contract?

I would love to see Maldini and Massara replaced by someone else than having Pioli fired. Smh
