CM: Atalanta will pay De Ketelaere fee in full after failed discount attempt

By Isak Möller -

Charles De Ketelaere is getting ready to say goodbye to AC Milan on a permanent basis as Atalanta will exercise the buy-out option in his contract. Indeed, according to a report, the Bergamo side will honour the deal made last summer.

In recent days, reports suggested that Atalanta would have liked to obtain a discount on the final price tag for De Ketelaere. However, Milan immediately rejected this approach given the playmaker’s success this season, with 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

According to, Atalanta will redeem the player by June 14 and the deal is structured as follows: €3m for the paid loan that just ended, €22m buy-out, €2m in bonuses and a 10% future resal clause in favour of Milan.

In short, the deal has not changed in the last few days as it certainly wouldn’t have made sense for the Rossoneri to make any discounts. Atalanta could likely flip the 23-year-old for two times the price they will pay, which will upset some Milan fans.

On the other hand, Milan will make a capital gain thanks to the deal (on the balance sheet) and a potential sale in the future would further increase this thanks to the clause.

  1. Oh dear god thank you. Once this Atalanta move is made official I’m hoping we never have to see another story on here about him ever again. 🙏

  2. Well of course we will see a lot of stories, how well he is playing and how we missed on a great player just like we see about paqueta

      1. Those guys leaving are so bitter to take because they leave for free, due to the management failed to extend their contract or sell them before their contract runs out.

Maybe less bitter for Kessie as he left us after we won Scudetto.

  3. It made sense for Atalanta to ask for a discount, they always had the option to exercise either way. Good we have the funds to spend tho, there’s no excuse for not getting a quality CDM and other pieces now.

      1. He has to. Atalanta is a feeder club.
Tho somehow they managed to win something.
Guess they’re very good at their job

  4. “Atalanta could likely flip the 23-year-old for two times the price they will pay”

Stop making things up. No one is linked with him. The only big EPL clubs with money are Man City, Arsenal and Spurs. The others have to sell before they can buy. You obviously don’t pay attention to what happens in other leagues. The transfer market has changed.

  5. Man City not so much right now. They’re under investigation for financial violations and could even be relegated. No one in the Premier League is going to be spending big.
