CM: Atalanta ready to offer midfielder the captaincy to fend off Milan’s interest – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

Atalanta are ready to make a serious attempt to convince Matteo Pessina to extend his contract at the club with Milan poised, a report claims.

Pessina came through the youth academy at Milan but was sent to Atalanta back in 2017 as part of the operation that saw Andrea Conti move the other way, and in the last couple of seasons at Hellas Verona (on loan) and in Bergamo he has begun to impress. He also scored the winner for Italy in yesterday’s victory over Wales, cementing his status as a player of international calibre too.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are still at the window and attentive to the opportunity of being able to re-sign Pessina given they included a 50% resale clause in the initial deal which means they could essentially sign him for half price.

Roma also made enquiries in recent months while other big teams are interested, but Atalanta however have already decided his future. La Dea will attempt to renew his contract until 2023 with a signing bonus and the potential of being the future captain.
