CM: Atletico rejected, gap reduced – Milan very advanced in Pavlovic talks

The distance between AC Milan and Red Bull Salzburg regarding the price for Strahinja Pavlovic has been filed down to the extent that it is now ‘minimal’, a report has claimed.

According to Calciomercato.com, there is now just ‘a few million euros at stake’ until the deal can be closed. The unpredictable nature of the mercato means that it cannot be considered a done deal just yet, but things seem to be on the home straight.

In fact, the Serbia international has rejected the advances of Atletico Madrid because he only wants Milan, who in turn only want him. Pavlovic has the characteristics that the Milan defence lacks: he is left-footed and is dominant physically.

It was ‘love at first sight’ after the Champions League match against Salzburg in 2022. His name, together with that of Noah Okafor – who ended up signing last year – ended up straight in Geoffrey Moncada’s notebook.

Now Strahinja hopes that he will soon be joining Okafor at Milan and agreement with the club is already in place over personal terms. As soon as a fee is agreed, he will pen a five-year deal worth €1.5m net per season.

The contacts of the last few hours have brought Milan one step away from an agreement with Salzburg for Pavlovic. The gap is around €2-3m after the last offer of €18m and it can be filled with bonuses. The commissions to the defender’s agents will be around €3m.
