CM: Barcelona defender wants to leave Aston Villa – Milan in talks over January deal

AC Milan are evaluating various options to help the defensive department out in the January transfer window and Clement Lenglet is on the list, according to a report.

According to Calciomercato.com, Lenglet wants to leave Aston Villa because he is not finding much playing time under Unai Emery. He has zero appearances in the Premier League and five in the Conference League.

The good relations that exist between the Rossoneri management and the Wassermann agency – which looks after the interests of the French centre-back – could favour the success of the operation.

Lenglet will almost certainly return to Barcelona in January, ending his experience at Aston Villa a few months early, and then he will leave again. Milan, given the difficulties in signing Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal, could try a loan with option to buy deal.

The obstacle to the success of the negotiation is represented by the high salary of the player who receives around €6m net per season. The contacts with Wassermann are with the aim of trying to convince Barcelona to pay a share of his salary, and then discuss a new agreement at the end of the season.

Milan however, must guard against competition from Napoli who are also keen on signing Lenglet, as reported by il Mattino.
