CM: Bartoccioni primed for call-up as Milan battle goalkeeping crisis

The goalkeeping crisis that AC Milan face going into the game against Juventus will also have a knock-on impact for the Primavera too.

It was already known that Mike Maignan will be forced to miss the game against Juventus on Sunday night after he was given a straight red card during the win over Genoa before the international break.

Marco Sportiello was set to take his place, but then the club announced this afternoon that he has suffered a muscle problem in his calf and will be out for around two months, meaning it is quite a bad one.

According to Calciomercato.com, Sportiello’s injury combined with Maignan’s disqualification has sent Milan into an emergency against Juventus.

It will be Antonio Mirante’s turn to start his first game of the season, but two goalkeepers are needed for the bench and Lapo Nava is expected to be one of them.

Then, Stefano Pioli is expected to draw from Ignazio Abate’s Primavera side in all likelihood a call-up will come for Andrea Bartoccioni, a 19-year-old with five goals conceded so far in eight games across all competitions.
