CM: Cagliari find breakthrough in talks over midfielder as Milan open to idea of loan

By Oliver Fisher -

Cagliari appear to have made ground in their pursuit of Tommaso Pobega as AC Milan have opened to the idea of a loan spell, a report claims.

According to the latest from Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com on Twitter, Milan have opened to the potential of another spell out on loan for Pobega and Cagliari have been made aware. It seems therefore, given the injury suffered by Marco Rog, that the Sardinians could be closing in on sealing a new reinforcement for the midfielder.

It comes after MilanNews reported that Cagliari sporting director Stefano Capozucca had arrived at the Rossoneri headquarters and among the players followed by the Sardinian club with interest is Pobega. The 22-year-old midfielder continues to be linked with another potential loan exit after his previous spells at Pordenone in Serie B and Spezia last year, while Nandez could be departing Cagliari which may be another reason for their pursuit.

  1. Why Milan never learn from the past is annoying. We seem to hate our Primavera…Olzer now Pobega..wtf is wrong with this club?

    1. What is wrong with loaning out a young player over 21 years old to get regular playing time that he will not get at the club? Not sure what you are complaining about? It is not like he can play for the Primavera given his age. It makes perfect sense.

  2. I’m starting to think there’s a bunch of Inter trolls on here trying to convince the rest of us that Milan are stupid for finding a young promising talent a situation where he can play regularly for a mid-table team. To me this seems great. Pobega get to further his development and Milan maintain control. Personally I wouldn’t mind keeping him as the 4th option but from the one game I saw he seemed an awkward fit in the double pivot. Besides that fourth spot is better suited for an older more experienced player who’s game complements Tonali’s better.

    1. Couldn’t agree more on all points.

A young player should not be a 4th option as playing time would be limited to the Italian Cup and when covering any injuries or absences. Makes no sense to limit the development when they can go on loan and get the playing time they need. Same argument can be made for Plizzari as the 3rd choice goalkeeper. Better to loan him out as well.
