CM: Calhanoglu provokes Milan with huge pay rise request – Inter informed but player wants to stay

Hakan Calhanoglu asked for his salary almost tripling in the first round of talks regarding a renewal with AC Milan, a report claims.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, the negotiations between the Rossoneri management and Calhanoglu began three weeks ago, and time is running out for technical director Paolo Maldini to formulate an offer that can satisfy everyone given that the current deal expires in June 2021.

Calhanoglu has apparently asked for a salary of just under €7million net per season to renew, a huge increase from the current €2.5m. It is described as a ‘clear provocation’, but the Turkey international wants to renew at Milan and it is possible a compromise could be reached at €5m per season.

The report adds that Inter made contact about a month ago – an informal conversation to understand what the state of affairs is, but these discussions have stopped because the player wants to remain at Milan.

At the moment, the distance between the club and the playmaker is large, but the next few weeks will see Maldini attempt to reduce the gap and keep everyone happy.
