CM: Premier League must wait – Camarda getting closer to extending Milan bond

By Oliver Fisher -

After scoring the goal that won the game for Milan Primavera against Juventus over the weekend, stories about the future of Francesco Camarda have once again erupted.

As Calciomercato.com rightly point out, Camarda does not seem to be letting the rumours about his contract situation affect him as he continues to score nearly every time he takes to the field, be that for the Primavera or for Italy U17s.

Camarda is considered among the best 16-year-olds in the world. For months his performances have been watch by practically everyone, in Italy and abroad, and the opposite would be strange considering that Francesco is breaking record after record.

At just 15 years, 8 months and 15 days, he entered the history of Serie A as the youngest debutant or in that of the Youth League as the youngest goalscorer ever. Both Manchester City and Manchester United are very interested, but their hands are tied by the regulations.

What are those regulations? Due to the new rules post-Brexit, Camarda could only play in the Premier League after he turns 18 and that means that even if they did strike an agreement with him it would be two years before they saw him.

On the other hand, Camarda has never had any doubts about his future being at Milan, the club he supports and which welcomed him when he was a child. The negotiations between his family, the agent and the club are progressing well after some small disagreements.

The idea is to sign the first professional contract in July because in this way Milan would β€˜gain’ a year: the three-year deadline would in fact be moved to the end of June 2027, rather than if he signed now and it could only run until 2026.

It would be a long-awaited and fundamental step to ward off the sirens of other clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and more recently Bayern Munich.
