CM: Cardinale expected at Roma game – he is planning Milan’s future

By Euan Burns -

Gerry Cardinale is expected to be at San Siro for the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against AS Roma this week with more than just the match on his mind.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, the RedBird Capital Group owner should be jetting in from the United States of America for what is perhaps the biggest game of Milan’s season so far.

Winning the Europa League would put a totally different lens on the season, assuming Milan still manage to secure second in Serie A behind Inter.

Cardinale’s presence in Milan can never be fully guaranteed given he has an incredibly busy schedule to navigate, but there is always a desire to be at San Siro and it should be a great occasion against another Italian side.

There will be something of a USA-derby about the fixture given Roma are owned by Dan And Ryan Freidkin from America as well.

Cardinale’s presence in Milan is perhaps also inevitable given the recent Guardia di Finanza raid on the club’s headquarters. Cardinale’s presence in Milan will show again that the club does belong to him and RedBird rather than Elliott Management.

The owner will also likely want a run-down on the goings-on from various figures such as Giorgio Furlani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
