It is already known that AC Milan are serious about build a new stadium, but that the project is undergoing such a significant acceleration despite the reticence and opposition of part of the San Donato Council.
According to Il Cittadino (via Calciomercato.com), Milan have already spoken with the mayor of the area on the outskirts of Milan and with the representatives of the Lombardy Region, and their aim is to present the official project ASAP.
That is because Gerry Cardinale has the ambition to present the new stadium dossier to UEFA as a candidate to be one of the host venues for the 2032 European Championships.
Cardinale will be at San Siro this evening for the Champions League opener, but in recent days he has kept a continuous line of communication with the Council of San Donato, precisely to understand how to get around the obstructionism from the opposition party.
In recent days, two AC Milan managers went in great secrecy to the UEFA headquarters in Nyon to present the construction project of the facility (which will be built by Manica and Caa Icon) to have it inserted as the Milan stadium for the European Championship in 2032.
How exactly? Doesn’t it have to be finished by 2026? Plans were to finish it 2029 from what I read (here, on SempreMilan), they need to speed it up by a lot.
“For all these reasons, UEFA could endorse the choice of Milan’s new stadium for EURO 2032, provided that the company provides the FIGC with the guarantee of being able to build the facility by 2026…”
And in another one “Then, they will concentrate on the next step which would be the preparation of the construction site, to start the works in 2025. The aim of the club is to play the 130th anniversary season in the new stadium, which will have 70,000 seats, so therefore an opening in 2029.”
It sound impossible, 3-4 years ahead of schedule, no permits yet, nothing.
The plan to finish the construction of the stadium is 2029, so that from the beginning of the 2029/30 season, Milan will play in the new stadium, that is the furthest, maybe it will be finished even earlier, UEFA asks the hosts of the European Championship to know for sure whether the stadiums will be ready 3-4 years earlier and that is why it is mentioned that Milan wants the final of the European Championship at the new San Siro or whatever the stadium is called and to show them that they will surely finish it within the agreed deadline
Sorry man, but did you even read before replying? “For all these reasons, UEFA could endorse the choice of Milan’s new stadium for EURO 2032, provided that the company provides the FIGC with the guarantee of being able to build the facility by 2026…” 2026. Not 3-4 years earlier, it says by 2026. That is 2 years.
“…provided that the company provides the FIGC with the guarantee of being able to build the facility by 2026…”
The guarantee of being able to build the stadium will be there by 2026. It doesn’t say the stadium has to be built by 2026.
” The OK could come on condition that the Rossoneri give the FIGC a guarantee that they will be able to build the facility by 2026.” And here? I can give you multiple different ways it was written. None of them really are specific that the guarantee needs to be there and not the stadium. Here it sounds more like it has to be built by 2026, missing a few comas to make it what you said. What you say makes sense, but I’ve read a few articles and it is pretty unclear…
Cardinale in this picture is asking “what is this?” Lol 😂
