CM: Castillejo set to keep starting place against Hellas Verona

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan forward Samu Castillejo is in line for yet another start after the international break when Milan visit Hellas Verona, a report claims.

Having arrived a year ago from Villarreal in the deal which sent Carlos Bacca the other way, the Spaniard played predominantly as a left winger under Gennaro Gattuso last season

However, the arrival of Marco Giampaolo has seen Castillejo converted to a second striker in a 4-3-1-2 system, and he has so far started the first two games of the season.

Despite this, and Giampaolo’s words “he does things right, of the three strikers is the one who best interprets what I ask”, the presence of Rafael Leao, Ante Rebic and Suso should see him ousted from the starting XI in time.

According to Calciomercato.com, with Piatek, Rebic and Leao engaged with their respective national teams (the Portuguese with the U21), Giampaolo will start Castillejo again in Verona.

It presents another opportunity for the 24-year-old to prove he can be an important part of Milan’s plans for the season.
