CM: How Conte’s call affects the Buongiorno sweepstakes as Milan continue talks

The race to sign Alessandro Buongiorno has begun and AC Milan are joined by two of their domestic rivals ahead of the summer, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com report that Buongiorno is aware that the next few months could mark a turning point in his professional career. The European Championship in Germany beckons where he is now almost certain to start, and then the move to a top club.

Buongiorno could have joined Milan as early as January, but the negotiation had stalled due to the desire of Torino president Urbano Cairo to want to keep the best player in the squad at least until the end of the season.

The Rossoneri remain very interested with the knowledge that now the Granata club cannot block the sale of their captain. Geoffrey Moncada is keeping contacts with the player’s entourage alive, but at the moment all attention is focused on a striker for the incoming coach Paulo Fonseca.

On the other side of the Navigli there are Inter who always keep the developments on Buongiorno under observation, but at the moment do not have the economic strength to present an offer to Torino.

The situation is different for Napoli who are already carrying out their plan. Their director Manna initiated contacts with Beppe Riso, Buongiorno’s agent, after receiving Antonio Conte’s total approval of the possible operation.

The difficulties at the moment are related to the €40m asking price, but Napoli want to act ahead of the competition and will soon begin official negotiations with Torino to avoid the risk that the European Championship could further increase the price.
