CM: Milan hunting for striker of the future – prolific Ligue 1 star tops Furlani’s list

AC Milan did not make a huge investment on a centre-forward this summer as some expected, but that could instead come next year.

Heading into the summer mercato there was a feeling that Milan would sign a new striker who could be the starter for years to come, given that Divock Origi disappointed in his first season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic retired and Olivier Giroud will soon turn 37.

Giroud is currently the second-top scorer in Serie A having netted four times in the first three games of the season (albeit with three penalties), but soon he will naturally have to take up a deputy role to manage his work load more.

According to Calciomercato.com, the management are looking to the future and who could lead the line for years to come, and the name at the top of Giorgio Furlani’s wish list is Jonathan David of Lille.

It comes after a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday which claims that Milan also evaluated David in June and July when his price was €60m and saw a loan bid late in the window rejected, but they will try again in the coming months.

    1. Looking at City’s shape and especially with KDB out, Alvarez is about to play 40+ games for the best team in Europe this season – he is waaaay out of our price range.

You know who I’d love (but he’ll go to Newcastle or Spurs) – Ivan Toney!

  1. I am sincerely hope it will happen. However, I think it will really depend on how this season go. If new players can be integrated well meaning that the depth issue is covered, also if Milan perform well at UCL (at least QF) to gain more money, then it is possible. Otherwise I am not so sure if Milan are willing to spend 50+ millions Euro only for 1 player. But again, I wish it will come true. Maybe the management can do their magic like before to get big discount.
