Roberto De Zerbi has been linked with the AC Milan job several times in recent months, but as Stefano Pioli prepares to leave the club, the former Brighton head coach is not being spoken to by the Rossoneri, a report has claimed today.
The links between De Zerbi and Milan stretch further than the technical area, a product of the academy and a dream to return to Italy, partnered with ambitions to be the best link between the pair. However, at the vital stages, it seems like it might not be the right fit.
As Milan prepare to enter a new era, they are still awaiting the moment to appoint their next head coach. Reports from this morning suggested that there is once again a two-man shortlist, comprised of Mark van Bommel and Paulo Fonseca.
In there, there is a distinct lack of De Zerbi’s name, whose profile Milan would imaginably admire. However, as Calciomercato.com reports, the Rossoneri are not calling for him, and neither are Juventus.
Instead, there is interest from Marseille, who are another party interested in Fonseca, and Porto, who are preparing for the departure of Sergio Conceicao, who has been targeted by the Diavolo in recent weeks.

I’m totally buying what you say. Redbrid are really enjoying the suspense they giving their fans, it’s good for business but I strongly believe de zerbi will be choosen for the job.
Interest in de Zerbi is high, but Milan, Juventus, and Bayern are not interested. Instead, Marseille is interested. The same club is interested and has already offered a contract to the coach ( Fonseca) that the media is saying that Milan wants. 😅

Fonseca a the flop at Roma, even though Roma have never finished higher than he took them in his 1st season since he left, with the “special one” as their coach, with better squad and weaker serie A.
And I am not even calling for Fonseca to be hired. Neither one od them is that good. They are probably same level coaches, but they are talked about differently by the media
This reports are most liekley fake. So don’t judge based on them. De Zerbi has room to grow, also he has never coached bigger club and has still done well. Fonseca on the other side, had multiple chances in biger clubs and did nothing special. So no they are not the same if De Zerbi has done the same with far smaller clubs. Look at Sasuolo back in the day with De Zerbi and look at them now.
Both of them coached the same club Shakhtar Donetsk.
Fonseca won the double in each season, De Zerbi took over from him there.
De Zerbi had 67% winning percentage, while Fonseca 75% and won the double in each season.
At Roma Fonseca had 52% winning percentage, Pioli at Milan with better squad has 54%.
Mourinho, who according to everyone is a better coach than Fonseca, and had a better squad at Roma than Fonseca did, had 49% winning percentage. So Fonseca did better than Mourinho at Roma.
And , again, I do not want Fonseca, but most fans act like he is trash while they hype up coaches who are worse than him.

DeZerbi is a gamble just like Motta. That may be how Milan are approaching this. Any coach will be a gamble but maybe some candidacies offer more assurances than others that we don’t know about.
Either way, whichever name they decide on won’t get the 100% support so we will have to anticipate that, because even here we can’t all agree on the same name…
We can all agree fonseca is at the bottom of our wish list….
If they don’t at least have talks with him and we end up with fonseca then I know everything I need to know about this management.
