CM: €40m Milan man tops Atalanta wishlist; Rossoneri stance depends on Barcelona

Atalanta are dreaming of the idea of bringing AC Milan defender Mattia Caldara back to the club, according to a report.

Caldara has played just two competitive games for the Rossoneri since his arrival in summer 2018, having already had a problem with his achilles and his ACL.

According to Calciomercato.com, the 25-year-old is Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini’s market dream, and is becoming more concrete than just that.

The Nerazzurri have been forced to spring into action to replace Simon Kjaer and Roger Ibanez and have made Caldara their primary target.

The centre-back came through the system in Bergamo and wouldn’t say no to a return home – the report claims – but it would have to be on loan until the end of the season. Caldara wants to play more in order to rediscover his rhythm and that confidence, and should Milan tie up a deal for Jean-Clair Todibo they would open up to the idea of loaning the former Juventus man out.

However, it is worth mentioning that the Rossoneri – a year and a half ago – invested €40million on Caldara (in the exchange with Bonucci) and can not afford to lose anything from a possible transfer.
