CM: Empoli youngster is a possible Diaz replacement for Milan

AC Milan could turn to Empoli’s Tommaso Baldanzi in the summer if they are not able to keep Spanish midfielder Brahim Diaz at the club, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, the Empoli attacking midfielder has continued to impress a number of bigger clubs and Milan are one of them.

Given his profile and expected availability in the summer, there is a school of thought that Milan could replace Diaz with Baldanzi if a deal cannot be struck with Real Madrid to sign Diaz on a permanent basis.

The supposed fee for Milan to sign Diaz is €22 million but Real Madrid are not beholden to that figure and have the right to ask for more, which is very likely. They also may wish to use him as a makeweight in other transfers of their own.

That leaves Milan in need of a creative midfielder and Baldanzi, whilst a risk, could prove a smart signing. Inter and Napoli are also linked.
