CM: Experienced defender is motivated to carve out a role at Milan but his future is marked

By Oliver Fisher -

Mateo Musacchio still has a role to play at AC Milan between now and the end of the season, but his departure seems the most likely scenario.

That is according to Calciomercato.com, who note how the Argentine defender has been left in a situation where he has struggled with injury problems and has therefore fallen down the pecking order, and his contract is set to expire in June 2021.

Despite this, Musacchio knows that he can still carve out a role over the coming weeks and months as he has more experience than Gabbia and Duarte, the current alternatives to the starting pair.

The report adds that Musacchio is full of motivation and wants to do well without thinking about his future, and while he is pulling on the Milan shirt he will give his all to bring the club back to the Champions League.

At the moment though it is an exit that seems the most probable: he currently earns €2million net per season and there have been no talks over a renewal.
