CM: Five departures to make room for four new signings – Maldini and Massara’s plan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s mercato is constantly moving and the plan is to complete five exits to ultimately create the room for a number of new arrivals.

Calciomercato.com report how the first two to leave were Franck Kessie and Alessio Romagnoli whose contracts expired at the end of the season and they decided to try new experiences at Barcelona and Lazio respectively.

In terms of actual sales meanwhile, Samu Castillejo joined Gennaro Gattuso in Valencia, while Daniel Maldini is one step away from moving on loan to Hellas Verona, and Tiemoué Bakayoko is also set to depart with Valencia and Marseille keen.

They will certainly be joined by Mattia Caldara, who has returned from his loan at Venezia and is about to sign with Spezia. Matteo Gabbia is strongly wanted by Sampdoria, while Frank Tsadjout to Cremonese should happen soon too.

The idea is to free wages and raise some cash to fund signings. Charles De Keteleare is currently expected to sign from Club Brugge and important updates should arrive in the next few hours, while Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea and Renato Sanches of Lille remain targets.

Finally, a centre-back will be needed with Japhet Tanganga of Spurs and Abdou Diallo of PSG the first options. The goal is to defend the Scudetto and go further in Europe, so a better squad is needed.

      1. I’m quite new to this blog but it was the same bs over at Rossoneriblog. Fans bitching all season about the squad and Pioli and then we won the scudetto…

        1. The squad manage to won the scudetto in spite of youthful age. Sadly, a lot of fans who posted as well as the sports media seems to want to overhaul them. Young squad will naturally improve each year.

        2. That was last season. This is now. Do Real Madrid fans say well we won last year so it’s ok if we don’t make any signings this season? Lol. Redbird weren’t the owners last year and they don’t get credit for that. So far they have signed Origi. That’s it for THIS NEW ownership. Let’s see what else we do but time is ticking away and it’s a WC year. NO time to piss around esp when all of our rivals have strengthened. Are we going to take that next leap or stay fighting for top 6 in Italy like Maldini said?

          1. We already get few addition in Adli, Pobega, and Origi, high possibility for CdK too. If Milan sign CdK, they might need to sign an Italian left back to replace Ballo-Toure for UCL squad registration needs.

Youthful squad like Milan continue to get better each year, most of them have not reach their peak.

  1. This is impossible based on the squad rule of UCL and Serie A.

There is no way Milan able to accomodate 4 new non-homegrown players by removing just 2 non-homegrown players.

    PURE RUBBISH from calciomercato.com

    1. Pobega are homegrown and the 5th choice CB will be homegrown too. Right now our CB only tomori ,kalulu, kjaer, new CB probably foreigner, and last slot home grown

      1. Only 17 non-homegrown players (above 21 years old) can be registered in UCL A list players, right now:
        Maignan
        Tatarusanu
        Tomori
        Kalulu
        Kjaer
        Theo
        Ballo-Toure
        Bennacer
        Bakayoko
        Krunic
        Adli
        Diaz
        Messias
        Saelemaekers
        Leao
        Rebic
        Origi
        Giroud
        Ibrahimovic

There are 19 already, more than the limit. There is no way removing only Bakayoko will make room for CdK, Sanches, Ziyech, and Tanganga/Diallo.

        1. Note that last season there is no Origi and Adli while Kalulu was still U-21 so with Castillejo, the number was exactly 17.

        2. Even if Milan sign only CdK without the other 3, Milan will still need to remove 3 players from this list. The easiest is removing Bakayoko, then replacing Tatarusanu and Ballo-Toure with homegrown players.
