After a summer of ‘Fonseca-ball’, AC Milan regressed when the Serie A season begun, and we have seen little promise of the Portuguese head coach’s style. Against Inter, though, the Rossoneri were the better team, because the team believed in his ideas, according to a report.
In America, there were several positive signs shown by Fonseca’s side. Of course, it was only pre-season so there will always be differences in some way, but the side pressed with a good intensity and looked assured of their roles.
The same cannot be said when Milan began the Serie A season, and there was a notable drop-off in terms of performance and confidence in the side. Whilst the Diavolo beat Venezia, it was not seen as the change needed, and the loss to Liverpool reinforced that. This then is why Sunday’s result is so significant.
As Calciomercato.com write, the victory belongs to Fonseca and it is due to his ‘crazy’ idea that hope has been restored in some way. Credit also must be given to the squad for their performances, and trust in the system.
Trust is the keyword here, and sacrifices were made by several players for the tactics to work, something which can form a new path for Milan, and can create a ‘definitive’ system – something which the Rossoneri have lacked so far this season.
Before the weekend, fears of a six point gap between themselves and Inter were everpresent, but now level on points with their rivals, Milan can push on after gifting themselves a golden restart.
It was a great win, really brave and ambitious. Needs a bit of work on the finishing, maybe?(!)
So the rumour said: will he be sacked, despite the prevailing circumstances or next lost matches will do??
I think rumors are made up by journalists trying to sell newspapers. It would be foolish to sack a coach this early in a season and if they did then all of the management including Ibra, Furlani and Moncada should be sacked along with him.
A coach needs time and if they don’t want to give a coach time then they should have selected a bigger coach than Fonseca as many were available.
My only hope is that we continue with the 442 similar to Atl. Madrid style of play. We can’t play a high line as Fonseca originally intended.
442 or 4231 or 433 it doesn’t matter, but we cannot play the tiki taka style. Team choice is also important.
We have fast winger’s, we should depend on them and use more of Abraham as 9 than morata atleast in big matches.
We play best on the fast break. This slow up play and passing back to the central defenders allows teams to reset themselves. Mike needs to get that ball to the midfield while opponent is still in the box.
