CM: Fonseca wants Samardzic – why there is confidence despite €10m gap

AC Milan are active on multiple negotiating tables and they held fresh talks regarding Lazar Samardzic over the weekend, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com recall, Samardzic was very close to joining Inter a year ago and even did his medical but he could now sign for the red half of the city, something that he wants to do given his desire to take a jump in his career.

Milan have identified him as the right reinforcement for Paulo Fonseca’s midfield because he is young but already experienced in Serie A, he is technical but also physical and he has ample room to develop.

The Rossoneri like him, the negotiation is well underway and the interest is reciprocated. In fact, the player has let his entourage and especially Udinese know that he wants to move to Milan, who are offering €15m versus an asking price of €25m.

The counterparts that Milan have tried to include in the negotiation to lower the price have not convinced. Kevin Zeroli, Davide Bartesaghi, Tommaso Pobega, Lorenzo Colombo and Yacine Adli were the names brought up, but none have got the green light from both sides.

The feelings however ‘remain positive’ that a deal can be reached, while Milan are working on a five-year deal for the player. The commissions to his father-agent should be in the range of €5m, which is what the club has allocated, and everything suggests that contacts will continue in the coming hours.

Samardzic has rejected Lazio and Fenerbahce because he wants to play in the Champions League, he has a contract expiring with Udinese in 2026 and the Bianconeri know that selling him now would represent the right solution for everyone. A new offer is being prepared.
