CM: From dribbling to running – Milan overwhelm Juventus on all fronts in 3-0 win

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan put in one of their best collective performances of the season to dominate Juventus physically, a report has outlined.

As Calciomercato.com writes, it was a display that showed Milan are capable of dominating Juventus as they inflicted a very heavy 3-0 defeat on the Bianconeri, winning at the Allianz Stadium in Serie A for the first time even and away against Juve for the first time since March 2011.

It marks another victory away from home, the 14th in this league season, and in the history of the competition only Inter have done better (15 in 2006-07). Fantastic figures for a team that, with an increase in Technical Efficiency of 4% compared to last season, is in great shape to snatch a place in the Champions League.

Pioli’s team offered a very high level performance especially in the non-possession phase as per the metrics on offer, with pressing at 94.7% which forced the former champions to misplace even 50% of their ‘medium difficulty’ passes. The Rossoneri produced the same number of 1v1s as the Bianconeri (15) but, thanks to the brilliance of Theo Hernandez and Diaz above all, they successfully completed six (vs. 3 for the home side).

The high pace sustained by an excellent Physical Efficiency (94.3%) exhausted Pirlo’s side, forcing them to cover a volume of 111km of which 26km were at high intensity including 231 sprints (+19% compared to the Rossoneri) . A well-deserved, clear-cut and convincing success that puts the Devil in an excellent position.
