CM: From luxury options to surprises – seven names who could replace Calhanoglu

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management are at work to give Stefano Pioli a new attacking midfielder before the end of the transfer window, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are working to sign a new playmaker so as not to put a lot of pressure on Brahim Diaz, who secured his return from Real Madrid but is only 21 years of age and is therefore inexperienced in relative terms.

The Rossoneri are looking for a multipurpose attacking player, but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are not in a hurry because they know that they cannot afford to throw money away, which is why they have decided to take all the time available.

Isco and Coutinho, leaving Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, are two interesting profiles, but extremely expensive both in terms of transfer fee and salary, so they cannot be considered first choice targets.

Hakim Ziyech wants to know Thomas Tuchel’s intentions before leaving, while Milan are hoping to use their excellent relations with Chelsea to sign him on loan with option to buy. Another welcome player is Nikola Vlasic of CSKA Moscow, who want an obligation to buy set at €30m, a position which could soften over the weeks.

There are also surprise profiles to monitor such as Charles De Ketelaere of Brugge, Josip Ilicic of Atalanta and Marcel Sabitzer of RB Leipzig, but beware of surprises as Milan are working under the radar.
