CM: From potential counterpart to immovable – why Milan are holding on to Krunic

By Oliver Fisher -

One man who has not been the subject of many recent headlines is Rade Krunic, and that is because AC Milan’s stance on him is clear.

According to Calciomercato.com Krunic is ready to start a new chapter with the Rossoneri, his third season, and is ready to make his contribution in a season full of commitments and expectations. A return of the Champions League beckons which means a more congested fixture list, and the Bosnia international is seen as a useful tactical element.

Of course there is a month left of the mercato and anything can happen, but the situation will not change unless there are surprises. Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara tried to use him as a counterpart in talks with Udinese to get Rodrigo De Paul, but now Krunic is all set to remain.

Stefano Pioli is a big admirer of the former Empoli man as he is a hard worker, never a word out of place, always available and able to fill multiple roles on the pitch. He is a player that has no problem waiting for his opportunity and always gives everything, as well as being a player who loves Milan and has chosen to stay with the Rossoneri despite not being a first choice.

He earns just over €1m and has a contract until 2024 and that is just another reason why he will stay at Milan.

  1. I’m al my life and my dad to Ac Milan fan.
When two player has left Milan like the goalkeeper and playmaker, this 2 had no heart and I’m respect Maldini for his decision!
This year he will making Milan stronger. Soon we will be leading in the championship!
    Forza Ac Milan!!!

  2. All the players deserve the same respect and chances to prove that they deserve to stay in the big clubs like Milan, I am big fan of milan since Franco baresi was The captain and maldini was a kid like Daniel Maldini.
BUT, pioli always gives chance to krunic rather than Hauge last season, even during preseason, this coach prefers to deploy krunic rather than Hauge. This is very clear that pioli has no trust to Hauge , anyone or editors can explain WHY??? If the management really want to bring the depth to this team , use krunic to be part of the deal for Kamara… but this impossible, the first reason: pioli wants to keep his golden boy;second, marseille doesn’t want him cos they realize what kind of player they will get… soon pioli get sacked, his time is over

  3. Milan has already spent 60 mil. Kessie and Kjaer also need to renew. The players the club wants to sell (Hauge, Samu, Caldara, Conti etc) do not have attractive offers or at all. So, the club does not have money to transfer a playmaker. So, we will see Diaz /Krunic in that role. For the RW we will transfer Ilicic (it is cheap compared to other targets) but only if we sell something. To avoid losses, Hauge is ideal. We paid only 5 mil. Probably, an offer of 8-10 mil will suffice to bring Ilicic in. Controlling for age, Ilicic >Hauge. The idea is to strengthen the team with limited resources (and a lot of renewals to close). In sum, Milan will transfer only after it sells something. We need to be realistic.
